Death By Chocolate Cake
November 13th, 2009 by Fiddledeedee
Around the holiday season, I pull out the big guns for Saturday Stirrings. These are the tried and true recipes that no Christmas season is complete without.
Our big family Thanksgiving get together is already underway as far as the planning goes. E-mails are flying between families at break neck speed. Just today I received correspondence from my brother-in-law inquiring about the status of the Death by Chocolate Cake that I make, and if I would be bringing it over on Thanksgiving.
I attempted to make the legendary Death By Chocolate Cake a few years ago using Splenda instead of the real thing. He still hasn’t forgiven me. I assured him that I would indeed be making the cake, and it would be replete with REAL sugar.
This is an easy cake to make. But looks and tastes like you slaved over it for DAYS. I won’t tell if you won’t tell.
Death By Chocolate Cake

Then Add:
- 1 t. Vanilla

- 2 Eggs
Bake @ 350 for 30 minutes

Stand back and collect the complements.
If you have a recipe post that you’d like to share, please link it to Mr. Linky below. And as always, if you don’t have a post or a blog, you can leave your recipe in the comments section. And link back here to Saturday Stirrings, because that’s the polite thing to do.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Sounds delicious! But as long as you’re going to die anyway, you might as well use butter.

Gurrrrl, I’m with GrammaMack on that one. Butter makes everything wonderful. Of course that may explain my need to hit the gym……

Do you *have* to have the buttermilk? I never have that on hand!

Trying to add something to Saturday Stirrings but blogspot is giving me 40 fits….I can’t copy and paste a Word document. Who can’t copy and paste?!!! I just want things to work!
Keep the faith…I’ll figure it out.

Why? Why is this happening to me? ::Judy slams head on desk:: My blog entry shows up great – but the words are all missing. I’m trying to fix this but I can honestly say that it’s not looking good for the home team. I need more coffee…..

I have been making this since the last time you posted it and I just have to say I LOVE THIS CAKE!!! Btw, I always use butter.
@ Melanie, as a substitute for buttermilk you can put a Tbs of white vinegar or lemon juice in a measuring cup, add milk up to the 1 cup line and let it sit for a few minutes. Or I guess you would want to half that for this recipe but it works fine.

My mom has made this cake my entire life and now that my youngest has an egg allergy, I’ve found it to be the perfect dessert for her! Because what kid doesn’t need a slice of chocolate cake every once in awhile?
