Party On, Part Deux
March 7th, 2008 by Fiddledeedee
If you’re here from The 5 Minutes For Mom Blog Party, WELCOME!
I look for any excuse to entertain. Soon, very soon, I’m holding a bonfire in my front yard. And you all are invited. The fuel for said bon fire will be:
1) One very soiled with stuff you don’t even want to know about High Chair.
2) One very stinky, broken diaper genie. Stinky diapers included.
3) One barcalounger in a color that is no longer recognizable. Stained with breast milk and more stuff you don’t want to know about.
4) 36 Barney VHS tapes. Assorted titles and subject matter. If I never see another purple dinosaur again, it’ll be too soon.
5) One crib with a precarious railing.
6) One very used Medela Breast Pump that is the reason I now always wear my glasses when turning on anything electronic with settings. After nearly 3 years, I still have not recovered from that faux pas.
Bon fires are frowned upon in our neighborhood, and I’m sure a Hazmat Team will show up. The more the merrier. Bring a stick, some weenies, and marshmallows.
Nearly every single day is a party here at It Coulda’ Been Worse. We gather around the proverbial coffee pot to talk about serious subject matter like popping pimples, projectile poop, menopause, cramps, frogs, and the state of our hair roots.
Not necessarily in that order.
The comments section can be more fun than the actual post. Because I have the most awesome commenters this side of the blogosphere. They are a hearty bunch that have a high gross out threshold. A necessity. And why I heart them.
And if you’re hungry, I host a recipe swap called Saturday Stirrings. On Saturdays. Go figure. (pun intended)
So, pull up a keyboard and get comfy. I’m glad you’re here.

well Dee…you can have that bonfire here at my house and noone will show up…the fire dept knows our addy now and wont respond unless i tell them there is a threat of lost life or limb…my husband you see has earned a rep for setting our own woods on fire….but to add to that bonfire just for fun i will throw in a lil tikes truck that is no longer drivable because the steering wheel fell off, a toddler 4 wheeler that has been worked over by too many toddlers, a baby crib that has one side broken off and all those size 6 clothes that wont even fit my left leg anymore let alone my whole body…LOL
and I have tons of Jiffy pop popcorns to roast over the fire(thank you TARGET)
steff
March 7th, 2008 at 2:18 am
oh! oh! Can I add to the bonfire? How about 2 playstations which have been dropped, smashed, yanked and thumped? That will get Hazmat FOR SURE. And there’s plenty more where those came from. . .
March 7th, 2008 at 4:15 am
Oh we love a good bonfire down here… but then we live on a farm, and it is the end of summer here and way too hot for a fire! So I shall throw a cookie monster toy that sings your way cause that thing should definitely burn burn burn!
Happy Blog party! I am blog partying too! Yay!
March 7th, 2008 at 4:24 am
Aw, we heart you too!
And I mean we as in the royal we.
As in me.
As in I don’t sleep anymore-our girl is 3 weeks old today and our son is 4 years old next Friday…doing the math that means I get about 20 minutes of sleep per 24 hour period-so I no longer have any sense of grammaticalness. I still love your blog though
March 7th, 2008 at 5:56 am
I would add all Superman’s army gear…every stinkin’ OD green item in the house.
Amen.
March 7th, 2008 at 8:15 am
I’ll throw most of the stuff in the storage shed that we haven’t opened in two years! Heck, we’re moving Saturday, I’ll throw in the whole dang apartment!
March 7th, 2008 at 8:50 am
I wanna know what happened in #6!!! That’s GOTTA be a good story!
March 7th, 2008 at 10:36 am
It seems unfair to tease us with #6 and not explain.
I have cramps, dark roots(and a few grays), pimples and frogs…the menopause thing should hit me soon…
March 7th, 2008 at 10:59 am
I suppose I will now have to post the story explaining #6. Sometimes I have to put a little time between a situation and the post, so that I can find the humor. I’m just not sure 3 years is enough time.
But for y’all, I’ll try.
March 7th, 2008 at 11:13 am
Haha that is hilarious! Can I bring stuff to burn too? I’m also bringing big easter colored marshmallows!
March 7th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
Please issue a warning before you post the Medela pump story. As a breastfeeding mother who just made it through the screaming, hit-the-wall stage of latch-on, I’d appreciate it. I’m not sure what it would do to my delicate psyche.
(Of course, I do read this blog everyday. Wonder what that does to my delicate psyche?)
March 7th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
I want to bring all of the Happy Meal toys that I’ve managed to ‘lose’.
March 7th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
I used to read your blog regularly, and I’m not sure what happened… I’m glad for this reminder!
March 7th, 2008 at 12:49 pm
I’ll throw in my brand-new, shrunk-in-the-wash maternity jeans, and WINTER!!!!
March 7th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
Oooooh, a bonfire. Perfect! I have several items that can be thrown in, as well. 2 (out of 4) of my kids are home with the flu and I woke up with it AND my period, this morning.
[blank stare]
Perhaps that was a bit TMI for everyone.
Can I join, anyway?
Thanks for having me and please take time out to enjoy the rest of your week!
March 7th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
W00t! The Blog Party is on! The bonfire sounds great! I’ll bring graham crackers and chocolate bars for the s’mores! Happy Blog Party!
Visit my party at http://usr-bin-mom.com. I’m celebrating my 8th blogging anniversary and having a giveaway.
March 7th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Ohmygoodness, how funny!!
Boy do I have some things I could contribute to the bonfire.
Happy Blog partying!
March 7th, 2008 at 1:12 pm
awesome, i have so many things i could bring to burn. but i think i’ll just bring:
1. half of my husbands waredrobe
2. the ugliest chair you’ll ever see, that my husband refuses to get rid of.
have a great week at the party!
March 7th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
I need to throw some moon sand on the fire that was used to play “Dirty Jobs” in my son’s bedroom.
It was great to find your site, Have a Happy Party!
March 7th, 2008 at 1:39 pm
Never been here before but it’s tons of fun! thanks for sharing
March 7th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
Checking out all the fellow partyers… partiers… whatever. Everyone who’s havin’ a good time. Those folks! Love your site, and I read another of your entries, Boo Boos and Bandaids. Funny. My kids are also addicted to Bandaids. I’ll be back. I might stalk you a bit. But nothing sinister like.
March 7th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
What a fun blog! I’ll be back. :~)
You can visit my party here.
March 7th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
OH WHAT FUN! I will bring the marshmallows.
Fun Times….Fun Times! lol
March 7th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
I’d love to join in the bonfire. I’ll include every art supply in my house (because my kids drew all over the walls and carpet last week) and all of our chapstick too (because when said markers were removed, my son drew all over the walls with his chapstick). Aack!
March 7th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
A bonfire sounds awesome! I haven’t had roasted hotdogs and marshmallows for far too long!
March 7th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
yay parteh!
i’ll try not to be too much of a firebug.
March 7th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
Bonfire! Wooooo!
I have a few things you can add… how about a singing, dancing chicken that my stepmom thought was funny to give to my four year old? and some wiggles dvds? If I have to see Captain Feathersword one more time, I might have to keelhaul someone myself!
Oh! Oh! I know, I know… how about all the crap my mom keeps sending me because she’s filled up 5 storage units (I only wish I was kidding!) and keeps trying to use me as free storage. Me and my tiny 1100 sq ft apartment? ARGH
Definitely coming back here!
March 7th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
This is one party where I’m always comfortable… except for the continual abuse heaped on poor little defenseless froggies.
If you need a little more fuel for the fire, I have a ton (excuse the pun) of my “I’m not fat, I’m just fluffy” clothes to burn.
Hope you can come by and nosh at my party.
March 7th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Great blog! I’m going to add you to my feed reader…
March 7th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Nice to meet you! I’m always up for setting crap on fire, so leave me your address on my blog (for stalkers) and I’ll be by.
I have a giveaway for the 5M4M par-tay, so come check it out!
http://awholelotofnothing.net/?p=231
March 7th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Oh my goodness! I read the first posters comment, about the fire department not responding to their call unless it’s loss of life or limb. That’s so funny. I mean not funny, but it really is quite funny!
I think your bonfire might be pretty stinky!
Come on over to our party at The Downtown Boutique blog!
Angie
March 7th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
That sounds like my kind of bon fire. Will there be marshmellows, chocolate and graham crackers for Smores? If so, count me in!
Cute post and great blog!
Happy Blog Party!!
March 7th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
Can I stop by your bonfire and add to it? We have a high chair that could probably rival yours and more Dora stuff than I can stand. And if you get time come visit my party post!
March 7th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
Your blog sounds like fun! Nice to meet you. Hope you enjoy the party.
March 7th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
I’m I regular reader but I would love to come to the bonfire party! Can we bring our own kindling. This sounds like a bonfire where I would not want to roast a marshmallow.
Keep on writing. love it all.

March 7th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
I just throw those happy meal toys out but I’m sure they would burn GREAT!
March 7th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Oh I would LOVE to add a few things to that bonfire of yours… sheets that my 4 and 5 year old sons have peed on repeatedly, a carpet my 1 year old daughter has puked on several times, and a few sippy cups with congealed milk in the bottom of them that I found under my sons bed… hopefully the smoke will dull the hideous smell from that combination! Happy blog party.
March 7th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
The name of your blog seems to be my life’s theme these days.
Hope you can join me at my blog party. We have cafe mochas.
March 7th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
This is hilarious! I’d like to throw half the stuff in our house on that bonfire. We have got to get rid of some of this junk!!
March 7th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
Hi, I love the bonfire idea, with 4 kids I have a lot to add to that fire. I really like your blog. I can not wait til tomorrow. I think I will stop by Saturday Stirrings.

Thanks for the smiles this morning.
March 8th, 2008 at 8:01 am
That is why you should live in a small town. They don’t really care what you do (like bonfires). A couple of years ago, a lady down the street (who was a little too, ahem, mature to be doing this) was burning leaves in her yard. However, instead of doing a little bit at a time, she had made one giant pile that took up a quarter of her front yard and lit it all at once! We had to drive through a big cloud of smoke (I know, they tell you not to do that) just to get home. Ok, let me just say it…she was too old to be doing that! She was probably in her upper 70s and could not move fast enough to keep up with the fire. Andrew was about to go down to help her when the neighbor across the street came out. The funny/scary part was that the lady seemed completely unaware that things could get out of hand quickly the way she was burning!
March 8th, 2008 at 8:32 am
Hi !

I so enjoyed your “mind dump”. Everything made me smile, starting with your banner! Nice to meet you, DeeDee!
March 8th, 2008 at 11:43 am
I’m so eating marshmallows and complaining about my cramps RIGHT THIS VERY MOMENT. So, it looks like I’ll fit right in!
(Actually, they’re Peeps my dad sent over.)
March 8th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
So nice to “meet” you! Thanks for hosting such a great party. I can only imagine how happy you must be to get rid of all that stuff after 8+ years. I’m tired of my diaper genie and it’s only been 2 years. Granted, my two year olds are twins so it does get double the useage. Oh my on the breast pump mistake. I can only imagine!
Happy Blog Hopping!
March 8th, 2008 at 2:45 pm
Great blog! Nice to ‘meet’ you! I’ll be sure to come back for another visit!
March 8th, 2008 at 2:47 pm

Love the idea of Saturday Stirriings…can’t wait to join. Just stopping by to say Happy Blog Party!
March 8th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Oh, I love a good bonfire too. Can I add a brand new What’s New Scooby Doo DVD to the mix and an old recliner that leans sideways and is very discolored and stained but which my husband insists is still the most comfortable chair in the house. I’ll bring chocolate and graham crackers to share!
March 8th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Happy Blog Party! Your post was too cute. I Hope you have time to stop by my party too!
March 8th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Hi! I found you via the Ultimate Blog Party. Looking forward to reading more!
March 8th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
Count me in for the bonfire… although it might turn into a nuclear mushroom with all the stuff I add (especially after the dirty diapers…)
Have a great weekend and enjoy the UBP Deux!
March 8th, 2008 at 6:00 pm
Whoo! That’s some list…and I thought I had poop problems! I love breast pump jokes…stop by my blog and check out the rooster who lives in my kitchen, you’ll feel better about your situation!
Thanks for the laugh–hope you have a great party!
March 8th, 2008 at 6:09 pm

March 8th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
I’ve got to bookmark your blog. Your not afraid to write about anything… even if it means popping pimples in blogland (HEHEHE).
Have a great party.
March 8th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Love your site;) I’m always afraid that if I get rid of the baby stuff, I’ll end up needing it, just when I least expect it. So I hang on to some nursing pads as a memento. New ones, not used, of course.
March 8th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
Hey DeeDee!
Still as funny as ever.
Sounds like a fun bonfire.
I’m with you on the Barney Tapes. I am still having trouble erasing the “I LOVE YOU” song from my memory… and my youngest is 9.
March 8th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
Just popped on your blog for the party and ended up staying for a while. I was really touched by your post about your girl who is growing up. It happens so fast, doesn’t it?
March 9th, 2008 at 8:10 am
I bet I can guess #6. Oh dear heaven on toast I bet I can guess and all I can say is… I hope it warn’t the hospital grade…
March 9th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Well, now I just have to read more! Such a fun and inviting post for the party… who could resist checking out posts with the potential to contain pimples and poop!
March 9th, 2008 at 10:32 am
I love all your posts, even the pimple popping stuff, lol.
March 9th, 2008 at 11:09 am
Funny post! Love your header!

Thanks for having me. I will be back to share recipes on Saturdays. Hope you have a chance to visit my blog party!
March 9th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Did someone say there was a bra burning party here? No? Well, that’s good because after nursing six kids (still nursing number six), I need a bra to hold the used-to-be-breasts-now-turned-cow-udders up.
I’ll add the x-box, gameboy, and satellite box to the bonfire!
Fun party post!
March 9th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Great blog, I will def be back. Can’t wait till the bon fire. I’ve got somethings I’d love to add - All the noisy baby toys that you can’t shut up!! Thanks for the pick me up - can’t wait to hear the Pump story. Christina
March 9th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
Hey, we are famous for our bonfires! I don’t know if that is a good thing……
March 9th, 2008 at 4:57 pm

March 9th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
I have lots of kids meal toys to add to that bonfire along with some precious dollar store items! happy blog party!!!
March 9th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Love your title! One of my favorite kid books is James Stevenson’s Could Be Worse.
Great, clever idea on the bonfire. Just worried about the toxic fumes. Please remember windshifter (someone always forgets on our camping trips).
March 9th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
I absolutely love your site and that bonfire is sure to be one interesting party–In nature, as well as in smell.
March 10th, 2008 at 1:24 am
For that bonfire I have 4 big storage tubs full of stuff that I can’t convince my husband to sort out & declutter.
By the way, I really like your blog’s design. The banner is too cute! And what a creative party post!
March 10th, 2008 at 9:20 am
Hi!!! I’ve visited before and coming back over from the UBP!
Happy to see you again…stoke that fire, baby with all the broken McD toys my kids insist on bringing home!!
Have a blessed week…
March 10th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Hey! I can so add to the fire! I have a broken crib(don’t ask) and 2 wooden toddler beds that are also broken. 3 boys. I hope that explains why they are broken! I aslo have some broken toys to add to the fire along with a few that I am so tired of the boys fighting over! Oh and I have several boxes of clothes that I can’t wear and or the kids can’t wear either!
Great blog you have here! I plan to come back!
March 10th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
Can I throw my worn out dog bed in your bonfire?
Happy Partying.
March 10th, 2008 at 3:13 pm
A bon fire- delicious. Mind you, with the wind and storms howling round here there wouldn’t be much chance of burning anything! # 6 sounds painful………a manual pump can be bad enough!
March 10th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Love your “brain dump”…mine is too. And I have lots of similar items to add! Although we’re expecting another, so I guess I shouldn’t get anything new at this point. Happy party-time and pyro-time!
March 10th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
Yippee!! A Bonfire - Can I throw in 55 lbs of my weight? That sure will be a lot quicker than this ol’ dieting and exercising method.
Lovely party!!
Stay Bless and Blog On!!!
PS - Come and Party with me!!
March 10th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
VHS tapes? Is that like 8 tracks? Just kidding!
Just passing threw the party saying hi to a few people before I pack it in for the night.

What a charming idea! *hands you lighter fluid, because she heartilly supports any initiative for ridding the world of purple dinosaurs*
Maybe I should give you some wood, though. Some nice, dried out fruit wood, that we could cook over?
March 11th, 2008 at 7:36 am

Nice meeting you… Happy blogging!

Breast pumps can be scary. They hooked me up to one in the hospital, and it scared me off breast feeding all together. The first stop we made on the way home was Walmart to get bottles and formula. Great party. Hope you’ll stop by my blog party.
