Party On, Part Deux

March 7th, 2008 by Fiddledeedee

5minutesparty.gif

If you’re here from The 5 Minutes For Mom Blog Party, WELCOME!

I look for any excuse to entertain. Soon, very soon, I’m holding a bonfire in my front yard. And you all are invited. The fuel for said bon fire will be:

1) One very soiled with stuff you don’t even want to know about High Chair.

2) One very stinky, broken diaper genie. Stinky diapers included.

3) One barcalounger in a color that is no longer recognizable. Stained with breast milk and more stuff you don’t want to know about.

4) 36 Barney VHS tapes. Assorted titles and subject matter. If I never see another purple dinosaur again, it’ll be too soon.

5) One crib with a precarious railing.

6) One very used Medela Breast Pump that is the reason I now always wear my glasses when turning on anything electronic with settings. After nearly 3 years, I still have not recovered from that faux pas.

Bon fires are frowned upon in our neighborhood, and I’m sure a Hazmat Team will show up. The more the merrier. Bring a stick, some weenies, and marshmallows.

Nearly every single day is a party here at It Coulda’ Been Worse. We gather around the proverbial coffee pot to talk about serious subject matter like popping pimples, projectile poop, menopause, cramps, frogs, and the state of our hair roots.

Not necessarily in that order.

The comments section can be more fun than the actual post. Because I have the most awesome commenters this side of the blogosphere. They are a hearty bunch that have a high gross out threshold. A necessity. And why I heart them.

And if you’re hungry, I host a recipe swap called Saturday Stirrings. On Saturdays. Go figure. (pun intended)

So, pull up a keyboard and get comfy. I’m glad you’re here.

  1. Steff (http://okierivermama.livejournal.com/) Says:

well Dee…you can have that bonfire here at my house and noone will show up…the fire dept knows our addy now and wont respond unless i tell them there is a threat of lost life or limb…my husband you see has earned a rep for setting our own woods on fire….but to add to that bonfire just for fun i will throw in a lil tikes truck that is no longer drivable because the steering wheel fell off, a toddler 4 wheeler that has been worked over by too many toddlers, a baby crib that has one side broken off and all those size 6 clothes that wont even fit my left leg anymore let alone my whole body…LOL
and I have tons of Jiffy pop popcorns to roast over the fire(thank you TARGET)
    steff

  2. Frizzlefry Says:

oh! oh! Can I add to the bonfire? How about 2 playstations which have been dropped, smashed, yanked and thumped? That will get Hazmat FOR SURE. And there’s plenty more where those came from. . .

  3. katef Says:

Oh we love a good bonfire down here… but then we live on a farm, and it is the end of summer here and way too hot for a fire! So I shall throw a cookie monster toy that sings your way cause that thing should definitely burn burn burn!
Happy Blog party! I am blog partying too! Yay!

  4. Person(Also Known As Mommy) Says:

    Aw, we heart you too!

And I mean we as in the royal we.

    As in me.

As in I don’t sleep anymore-our girl is 3 weeks old today and our son is 4 years old next Friday…doing the math that means I get about 20 minutes of sleep per 24 hour period-so I no longer have any sense of grammaticalness. I still love your blog though :)

  5. chocolatechic Says:

I would add all Superman’s army gear…every stinkin’ OD green item in the house.

    Amen.

  6. Nora Says:

I’ll throw most of the stuff in the storage shed that we haven’t opened in two years! Heck, we’re moving Saturday, I’ll throw in the whole dang apartment!

  7. Lorisa Says:

I wanna know what happened in #6!!! That’s GOTTA be a good story! :)

  8. katy Says:

It seems unfair to tease us with #6 and not explain.
I have cramps, dark roots(and a few grays), pimples and frogs…the menopause thing should hit me soon…

  9. FiddleDeeDee Says:

I suppose I will now have to post the story explaining #6. Sometimes I have to put a little time between a situation and the post, so that I can find the humor. I’m just not sure 3 years is enough time.

    But for y’all, I’ll try.

  10. Amy Shipp Says:

Haha that is hilarious! Can I bring stuff to burn too? I’m also bringing big easter colored marshmallows!

  11. Kelly @ Love Well Says:

Please issue a warning before you post the Medela pump story. As a breastfeeding mother who just made it through the screaming, hit-the-wall stage of latch-on, I’d appreciate it. I’m not sure what it would do to my delicate psyche.

(Of course, I do read this blog everyday. Wonder what that does to my delicate psyche?)

  12. T with Honey Says:

I want to bring all of the Happy Meal toys that I’ve managed to ‘lose’.

  13. seven Says:

I used to read your blog regularly, and I’m not sure what happened… I’m glad for this reminder!

  14. Missy Says:

I’ll throw in my brand-new, shrunk-in-the-wash maternity jeans, and WINTER!!!!

  15. Liz Says:

Oooooh, a bonfire. Perfect! I have several items that can be thrown in, as well. 2 (out of 4) of my kids are home with the flu and I woke up with it AND my period, this morning.

    [blank stare]

Perhaps that was a bit TMI for everyone.

    Can I join, anyway?

Thanks for having me and please take time out to enjoy the rest of your week!

  16. Michelle Potter Says:

W00t! The Blog Party is on! The bonfire sounds great! I’ll bring graham crackers and chocolate bars for the s’mores! Happy Blog Party!

Visit my party at http://usr-bin-mom.com. I’m celebrating my 8th blogging anniversary and having a giveaway.

  17. PamperingBeki Says:

    Ohmygoodness, how funny!!

Boy do I have some things I could contribute to the bonfire.

    Happy Blog partying!

  18. melissa d. Says:

awesome, i have so many things i could bring to burn. but i think i’ll just bring:
    1. half of my husbands waredrobe
    2. the ugliest chair you’ll ever see, that my husband refuses to get rid of.

have a great week at the party!

  19. Mellissa - wondermommy Says:

You can visit my party here.

  23. Linda Says:

OH WHAT FUN! I will bring the marshmallows.

    Fun Times….Fun Times! lol

  24. CC Says:

I’d love to join in the bonfire. I’ll include every art supply in my house (because my kids drew all over the walls and carpet last week) and all of our chapstick too (because when said markers were removed, my son drew all over the walls with his chapstick). Aack!

  25. Wendy Says:

A bonfire sounds awesome! I haven’t had roasted hotdogs and marshmallows for far too long!

  26. Jenny Says:

yay parteh! :) i’ll try not to be too much of a firebug.

  27. Lynn C Says:

    Bonfire! Wooooo!

I have a few things you can add… how about a singing, dancing chicken that my stepmom thought was funny to give to my four year old? and some wiggles dvds? If I have to see Captain Feathersword one more time, I might have to keelhaul someone myself!

Oh! Oh! I know, I know… how about all the crap my mom keeps sending me because she’s filled up 5 storage units (I only wish I was kidding!) and keeps trying to use me as free storage. Me and my tiny 1100 sq ft apartment? ARGH

    Definitely coming back here!

  28. Fresh Girl Says:

This is one party where I’m always comfortable… except for the continual abuse heaped on poor little defenseless froggies. ;)

If you need a little more fuel for the fire, I have a ton (excuse the pun) of my “I’m not fat, I’m just fluffy” clothes to burn.

Hope you can come by and nosh at my party. :)

    http://awholelotofnothing.net/?p=231

  31. The Downtown Boutique Says:

Oh my goodness! I read the first posters comment, about the fire department not responding to their call unless it’s loss of life or limb. That’s so funny. I mean not funny, but it really is quite funny!

I think your bonfire might be pretty stinky!

Come on over to our party at The Downtown Boutique blog!

    Angie

  32. Elaine Says:

That sounds like my kind of bon fire. Will there be marshmellows, chocolate and graham crackers for Smores? If so, count me in!

    Cute post and great blog!

    Happy Blog Party!!

Oh I would LOVE to add a few things to that bonfire of yours… sheets that my 4 and 5 year old sons have peed on repeatedly, a carpet my 1 year old daughter has puked on several times, and a few sippy cups with congealed milk in the bottom of them that I found under my sons bed… hopefully the smoke will dull the hideous smell from that combination! Happy blog party.

  54. Melissa Says:

Thanks for the smiles this morning. :)

  55. Tiffany Says:

That is why you should live in a small town. They don’t really care what you do (like bonfires). A couple of years ago, a lady down the street (who was a little too, ahem, mature to be doing this) was burning leaves in her yard. However, instead of doing a little bit at a time, she had made one giant pile that took up a quarter of her front yard and lit it all at once! We had to drive through a big cloud of smoke (I know, they tell you not to do that) just to get home. Ok, let me just say it…she was too old to be doing that! She was probably in her upper 70s and could not move fast enough to keep up with the fire. Andrew was about to go down to help her when the neighbor across the street came out. The funny/scary part was that the lady seemed completely unaware that things could get out of hand quickly the way she was burning!

  56. jennifer barr Says:

    Hi ! :)

Did someone say there was a bra burning party here? No? Well, that’s good because after nursing six kids (still nursing number six), I need a bra to hold the used-to-be-breasts-now-turned-cow-udders up. :)

    Fun party post! :)

Can I throw my worn out dog bed in your bonfire?
    Happy Partying.

  105. Susanna Says:

A bon fire- delicious. Mind you, with the wind and storms howling round here there wouldn’t be much chance of burning anything! # 6 sounds painful………a manual pump can be bad enough!

  106. Mel Says:

Love your “brain dump”…mine is too. And I have lots of similar items to add! Although we’re expecting another, so I guess I shouldn’t get anything new at this point. Happy party-time and pyro-time!

Nice to meet you!!! I liked your blog!!!

  117. Colleen Says:

Breast pumps can be scary. They hooked me up to one in the hospital, and it scared me off breast feeding all together. The first stop we made on the way home was Walmart to get bottles and formula. Great party. Hope you’ll stop by my blog party.

I’d have a few undesirable items to contribute to the bonfire… a couch that has been in my husband’s family since he was in grade school (who knows how many persons’ bodily fluids have seeped into the crevices of this awful thing) but its so comfortable that he probably won’t ever let me get rid of it, our coffee table that we have already replaced the legs once before and its now wobbly (might have something to do with my two year old using it like a jungle gym), I’m sure I could find more to contribute… but alas naptime is almost over and I’ve done nothing but piddle it away blogging. Anyway, check out my party post!

Oh good a bonfire, just what I need on this cold winter day. I have a high chair I would like to toss in too. My 2 year old has out grown it in her mind and won’t sit in it anymore. LOL! I have to say she does really good sitting in big people chairs now. :-)

Great blog and party! Come on over to mine, I am giving away a total of four, 4 ounce jars of african shea butter in different fragrances.

TOO FUNNY! I have had a few of those bonfires here! Could bring some extra kid printed stuff to add. How about a full wall that my teenager and her friends decided to write all over with magic marker? She heard me talking about having to paint and decided it was a good idea. ahhh, I love my life! :)

  124. Betsy Says:

LOL! I enjoy reading your blog every time I stop by. I need to subscribe!

  125. DK Says:

Oh Dee Dee, you made me laugh! (and that’s hard to do) Love your blog; I’d stay for the bonfire, but I think the smoke may be overpowering. :) Thanks for hosting this party; it’s been a blast. Stop by my place when you’re in the neighborhood. Happy Party-Hopping!

  128. Alyson @ 3 P's in a Pod Says:

DeeDee Girl, you have my kind of sense of humor, that is for sure! No doubt my eldest daughter’s mismatched socks and dirty clothes from under her bed could be added to the bonfire and, well heck, my husbands entire office!

I will be a regular reader for sure. Come by and see me some time if you get a sec.

Can I throw some things in the fire?

  136. Sandy Says:

I have a couple things that can be added to your bonfire. Starting with a weight bench and exercise bike that nobody uses anymore. I keep banging my knees and stubbing my toes on them!

  137. Brooke Says:

    So exciting!

  138. Valerie Says:

What about the breast pump. I am a mom of 9 week old twins and use my pump often. Should I wear glasses? Happy party.
